Our Technologies
Upsetting
Upsetting is based on the principle that two tool segments enclose the partially heated pipe and the material is then compressed in the axial direction by one or two punches.
Forging / Rotary Swaging
The tool segments (2, 3 or 4-jaw tools) exert radial pressure forces on a rotating workpiece.
Flow forming
The flow forming process is based on the principle of pressure/pressure rolling.
HEATforming™
HEATforming™ is a licensed metal forming technology that uses internal gas pressure to hot form hollow bodies, tubes or profiles.
Reducing / Expanding
The tube is held axially by at least two clamping jaws during forming.

Advantages of our technologies
Weight optimization
The individual forming processes enable a targeted wall thickness distribution on the component. This means that weight-critical components in particular can be optimally designed.
Reduction of individual components/variety of parts
Welded assemblies are often replaced by formed components. The one-piece solution saves costs for additional components and their stockpiling.
Safety and security
The formed components have a homogeneous fiber flow. Due to this uninterrupted fiber flow, the components can be subjected to higher loads with the same amount of material compared to machined parts. The use of formed components often means that weld seams, and therefore critical microstructures, can be dispensed with.
Material savings
The targeted application of the various processes makes it possible to optimize the dimensions of the components. This significantly reduces the amount of material required, which minimizes costs and conserves resources.
Tolerances
With the technologies used, significantly smaller tolerances can be maintained compared to conventional hot forming processes. As a result, downstream processes can be minimized or eliminated altogether.

EFS has invested in another Felss rotary swaging machine to further expand its production capacity. With this investment totaling around €1.6 million, EFS is taking another major step in the transformation of its production and product portfolio.
